Study Abroad Programs Sponsored by the TCNJ Center for Global Engagement

All programs offered by TCNJ have been approved by the TCNJ faculty because they share The College of New Jersey’s dedication to academic excellence. The College of New Jersey sponsors programs which are indicated by “TCNJ” in the Sponsor column on the study abroad programs page. TCNJ sponsored programs are broken down into two types: Exchange Programs and Direct Enrollment Programs. Students at TCNJ can also study abroad through these other program sponsors: AustraLearn, CAPA, CIEE, EuroLearn, IFSA-Butler, ISA, OSAP, School for Field Studies, and TEAN. Finally, there is an option for students to petition the International Education Program Council for approval of their desired study abroad program that has not been placed on our approved program list.

TCNJ Exchange Programs and Payment

By agreement, TCNJ and an institution abroad each collect and retain tuition from their students. Each institution then exchanges students on an even basis. Typically, students will pay room and board at the host institution (school abroad). Such exchange agreements allow the TCNJ community to enjoy the benefits of having international students on the campus for a semester or a year. By going on an exchange program, you are giving the opportunity to a student from your host school to come to TCNJ and to enrich the diversity of the TCNJ campus! Exchange programs that are currently offered are:

  • Argentina: Universidad de San Andres, Buenos Aires
  • Australia: La Trobe University, Melbourne
  • Australia: University of Newcastle, Newcastle
  • Australia: Victoria University, Melbourne
  • England: Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
  • France: Universite Blaise Pascal, Vichy/Clermont-Ferrand
  • Germany: Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main
  • Ireland: University of Limerick, Limerick (Psychology Majors)
  • Japan: Kansai Gaidai University, Hirakata/Osaka
  • Spain: Universidad Europea, Madrid
  • Tajikistan: Technological University of Tajikistan, Dushanbe
  • Thailand: Mahidol University International College, Bangkok

New relationships are in development, and we will announce new exchange opportunities on our website and in other campus media.

(NB: TCNJ students whose parents work at TCNJ/who attend TCNJ on tuition waivers may use those waivers for exchange programs ONLY. STARS II scholarship students may also use their scholarships for exchange programs ONLY.)

TCNJ Direct Enrollment Programs

TCNJ directly places students at institutions abroad without going through a third party. For most of the TCNJ Direct Enrollment programs students will pay the host institution’s tuition directly to the host university. For all TCNJ Direct Enrollment programs students will pay the host institution’s room and board directly to the host institution.
