An experience teaching abroad may enrich the lives of faculty members in a variety of ways. One might gain new perspectives about one’s discipline, and working with students from different cultures often creates opportunities to use new methods to achieve critical learning outcomes. There are a number of opportunities to teach abroad through TCNJ’s exchange partners, and these opportunities are listed below.
Our exchange partners are also willing to work with us to explore ways for TCNJ to place teaching faculty at their institutions. Please contact the CGE to discuss ways to approach our partners.
Goethe University, Frankfurt (Germany) – TCNJ enters the fiftieth year of this partnership, and faculty in many disciplines have participated in the exchange over the years. Generally faculty members travel to Germany in March and teach in the second “Summer” semester – from April to July. Most faculty have taught two courses, but this is negotiable with the host department. Faculty with an interest in pursuing this opportunity should consult the CGE of their interest by October 1 of the academic year preceding the exchange year.
Kansai Gaidai University, Hirakata (Osaka – Japan) – KGU has an established Visiting Professor Program, and faculty should feel free to reach out to KGU directly to explore this option.
