Faculty-Led Programs – Online Resources

Dear Faculty and Academic Affairs Staff,

Following consultation with the Global Engagement Council, The Arlotto Family Center for Global Engagement is pleased to provide information about leading a TCNJ Short-Term Faculty-Led Program and/or accompanying a Semester-Long Program.  To streamline the framework and to provide faculty with more time over the summer to plan, we are aligning the Request to Schedule and Request for Proposal processes to follow the same application timeline, which will begin earlier than in previous years.

Step 1 – Request to Schedule (RTS): REPEAT Faculty-Led or Faculty-Accompanied Study Abroad 2027

This request is designed for those programs that have already gone through the development process and have been offered in the past.  The RTS should be used when programs meet the following criteria:

  1. Academic content for the course(s) has/have already been reviewed by the relevant curriculum committee(s)
  2. The itinerary has been created in collaboration with CGE staff and a cooperating institution or organization
  3. The program has been previously reviewed by both the Global Engagement Council and the Global Risk Review and Crisis Management team

The RTS application asks program leaders to update any changes in leaders, dates, in-country locations, activities, and learning goals.  The application also notes a cap in the number of programs that will be scheduled in 2027 and asks seasoned faculty leaders to consider inviting colleagues who are new to TCNJ’s education abroad programs to join them in offering their programs.

Step 2 – Request for Proposal (RFP): NEW Short-Term Faculty-Led Study Abroad 2027

This request is designed for new programs and is the first step of the process.  Please note that the timeframe for successfully conceptualizing, developing, receiving approval, scheduling, recruiting for, and delivering a new program is significantly longer than with a previously-scheduled program.

Those faculty and staff who have ideas about new programs they would like to offer in 2027 or at a later time are welcome to consult with the CGE staff.  CGE is anticipating being able to host an RFP workshop prior to the start of the Fall 2025 semester to provide a space for prospective leaders to brainstorm and ask questions to help frame an application.  Details, including a specific date, will be communicated over the summer.

Both the RTS and RFP processes will follow the schedule below:
