The real question is: why WOULDN’T you? Interning abroad not only gives you the work experience that many companies/graduate schools are looking for after you graduate, but it also allows you to gain this experience in a new and exciting place. As the world becomes more and more interconnected, having an international internship on your resume will help you stand out to future employers/graduate schools as it helps you understand a different culture, gain language skills, and shows that you are a motivated, responsible individual.

Why Work Abroad?
Working abroad gives you many of the same benefits as interning, the only difference: you get paid! Finding paid work abroad is a lot harder than an internship, and if you choose to go this path you may not be able to find paid work in the field you want to go into after graduation. It is important to consider this when choosing an internship or work program.

Why Volunteer Abroad?
If you feel that you can only devote a few weeks to going abroad instead of a whole summer or semester, then volunteering is right for you! By picking the right volunteer program, you can help change the world while gaining many of the same benefits as interning in just a few short weeks. Like internship programs, there are many volunteer programs that focus in on many fields: education, health care, social work, etc. Have fun exploring and helping other parts of the world while also preparing for you future as being part of one of these programs will help you stand out to employers/graduate schools!
